Ten Minutes and a Serving of Burnt Beans

Today I jumped out of my car and ran straight to my house in an effort to avoid talking to my neighbour! Was I wrong for doing this??🥴

Dearest Readers,

Happy World Book Day!!!

Would I be cheeky if I said Happy New Year to you? I know today is the 64th day of the year, but I haven’t spoken to you guys since last year so I think it’s an appropriate greeting. How’s your year going thus far? Did you make any resolutions or goals? If you did, are you still on track with your goals or new years resolutions? Or are you deciding to just see wherever the year takes you?

For the first time in a while I can say that I am honestly navigating my goals well.. Now this doesn’t mean that everything has been perfect or smooth sailing; because there have been hiccups and disappointments along the way, but the small wins surpass them all. I am standing from a place of gratitude and surrender. Thankful for what I have, what I’ve been able to accomplish and letting go of the parts of me that once held me back. She has been in the gym and getting stronger. She has been eating more healthy options and taking her vitamins regularly, she is purposely slowing down to smell the roses and tend to relationships she once neglected because of being overly busy or just not aware. and one day she grabbed her umbrella and took a walk in the rain! She has been taking voluntary or involuntary naps on her couch. She is me, and I hope that she can be you too.

The last time I wrote to you in this forum, I mentioned doing less in 2026. I know reading this it doesn’t seem like I am, but trust me my schedule is less packed and I am in a better creative, emotional and mental space because of it. I have ensured that this year I am making time for my family, myself- especially my personal ambitions and of course God-which direction He wants me to go because without this focus everything else I do is worthless (that’s my humble opinion).

So back to the elephant in the room. Why was I running from my neighbour? I am normally a friendly person but my friendliness and inability to speak up in a moment  caused me to be late for work. Part of my desire to improve this year leans heavily on my time management. I live in one county and work or attend social functions in another; so being on time is always a factor. This year I’ve been playing around with my routine in the mornings to see what works. I thought I finally had it when I heard ‘Hi good morning!’

Now I was doing that rude thing where you walk while talking to the person, basically pretending to be busy or in a hurry! I felt guilty about that and stopped to give him my attention. Lard a mercy!!! I wasn’t ready. 10+ minutes later, I ran into the house, my baked beans now burnt which I felt to simmer slowly, while I dropped my daughter to the train station down the road. My hair is still not combed, lunch bags for my son and I are still not packed! I’m moving at lightning speed trying to cram 25 minutes worth of getting ready into 15 minutes. Lord please redeem my time,I prayed softly as I was driving like a NASCAR racer to get to work, but yea you guessed it, I was 10 minutes late for work!!!!! So this morning when I saw my neighbour I did a Usain Bolt sprint because I don’t have the luxury of running into the classroom late. How can I fuss at the students for being late if I’m hauling in at a quarter past hypocritical!! Safe to say I’m still living and learning. One of the things I’ve now decided to do is pre-pack the lunch bags the night ahead. The cold items I can always toss in the bag in the mornings, and that saves me a great deal of time and hassle, since my mornings are hectic enough with two separate school drop offs and a 45 minute commute. A commute that doesn’t allow for me to comb my hair or put on make up while I’m driving! Is anybody else struggling with their morning routines or is it just me?

Well it’s that treasured time again…It’s world book day and this year I remembered before the actual day! Which means I had time to prepare. This year my school librarian helped me to be extra practical. So honestly I took a random football book from work called ‘Golden Goal’ and my son dressed in a football outfit and took his football to school. Money spent on a costume £0. Now that’s good parenting and money management. I saw some interesting costumes when I dropped my son off to school which made me smile. One mother quietly confessed to me  ‘that’s all I had at home’; her daughters were dressed in some fancy, accessorized straw hats. I can’t remember the outfits but the hats were giving me life!

Guys…guess what??? After dropping several hints for what seems like forever, I’m in the final stages of having my book published. It’s been a race against time, several melt downs, many answered prayers, delays, and three years later; but I am done and ready to explore this new avenue of being an Author and hopefully a motivational speaker.  If you’re in the Birmingham UK area and you’re looking for some place to be this month with a friend or two, then you are warmly invited to attend my Book Launch. I would love to meet and network with you. Details just a click away👉https://www.tickettailor.com/events/inspired/2083043

Here’s me wishing you a fabulous March, whether you’re dodging neighbours, finding balance or booking holidays! The next time I speak to you, I will be a published Author so I want to take this opportunity to thank you for spending a moment of your day with me, reading, liking, sharing and commenting on my blog. Have an amazing month. Be kind not just to yourself today but to someone else as well. God bless you

Besos😘
