Well hello beautiful people!!!! (can you sense my joy in that statement😚) Despite the dreary British weather, despite my very sore and tired feet because I went brisk walking this morning, life is great! How ya doing?
At the moment I’m writing this entry, its the calm point of my day. The time after the morning rush; (devotions, packing lunches, school run, exercise etc.)but between the afternoon school run, small errands, studying and getting my final assignment started. The calm before I rev the engine of my faithful car and begin the journey of a soccer mom. (Hi I’m Kamille and I’m a soccer mom😫)*soccer mom-a suburban mom that spends a lot of time transporting her children to sporting events
New season; New title!
The lockdown life is slowly coming to a halt(fingers and toes crossed) and the spring and summer season is upon us once swinter(a cross between spring and winter) leaves us alone! I figure why not embrace the new and come out of hibernation and get the kiddos active again. However every choice as a single mother(or parents in general) must be weighed, scrutinized, analyzed and some measure of sacrifice made, usually by mommy dearest.
My son had started swimming lessons a mere month before Covid hit and that went through the window. I wanted to put him in a club that would help build his confidence and instill discipline. My daughter on the other hand has transitioned from taekwondo to football then gymnastics which she had to pause during lockdown and during that down time she decided she didn’t want to pursue gymnastics anymore. I got tired and frustrated seeing her retreat to her room to find solitude and amusement between her phone or laptop or both; however I was pleasantly surprised when she announced that she wanted to give athletics club (running) a try. My response: do your research and get back to me.
She definitely got back to me with much excitement and showed me a club, the cost, and distance from our home. The prices oooo the prices ha haaaa gave your girl palpitations, the DISTANCE…hmmm ain’t nobody got time for that..so I gave her advice and she followed what I told her, refined her search which then resulted with me and my budget book crunching figures that really had no more crunch! Being the brilliant momma I am I found a way to swing it.
Two children, two sporting clubs,2- 5 sessions each weekly, one mama, one tired budget. One thing I know where there’s a will there’s a way but even greater than that knowing that My God shall supply all our needs! So here I am today getting dressed to leave home at 4:30 so I can get my son to his class, jump back into the car and drop my daughter off at her club; while my son and I watch her for an hour run back and forth on the track whilst completing a plethora of exercises as if she’s in boot camp. I lost 5lbs just watching her train the other day😫😂😂.
Remember when I spoke about sacrifice? Talk about Eenie, Meenie Minnie mo..(something we said as kids to decide on something we wanted). For my babies to go to their clubs, I cancelled my gym membership and boxing with my trainer, and found a way to reduce a few other bills so that I could accommodate their clubs and the extra petrol that would have to go into the car to chauffeur them to and from their activities.
My son was a bit shy in his martial arts class and wanted to bolt for the door but I spoke to him, sang his praises and after he gave it another try and an instructor worked alongside him he announced; “I want to keep doing martial arts mommy” My daughter on the other hand she was excited.com When we got to the sporting arena she tried to jump out the car before I could come to a complete stop. I had to tell her to calm down! So far she has shown she definitely wants to be there, as I’ve watched her train in windy and rainy conditions then get home and do her stretches. Which is better than me because if it as much as drizzles Kamille won’t be exercising today! But they are adjusting well to their new sporting activities and I’m delighted to see their progress. It may be a bit taxing at times but its worth it. All’s well that ends well.
Sometimes we got to give a little or a lot so our little ones can be enriched holistically. So my wonderful readers embrace each season as it comes with your little ones and do what you have to make them a better version of themselves and overall better citizens. Gotta love you and leave you because my soccer mom duties are calling me. Besos🥰😘
